Made off site by award winning winemaker, Alain Rousseau. On arrival at the winery, all fruit was processed through a pneumatic membrane press prior to yeast inoculation. Warm fermentation in stainless steel with must pump-over carried out twice daily. At dryness, wine moved to barrel for seven months maturation before racking, filtration and bottling. Screw cap sealed. Bottled November 2015. Vintage: The windy spring and mild summer of 2014-2015 resulted in reduced yields of high quality fruit at Riversdale Estate. Fewer bunches and smaller bunch sizes gave rise to intensely aromatic and flavoursome berries. Perfectly ripened, these displayed the fine acidity and rich, smooth, chocolaty/black cherry fruit characters that distinguish our Coal River Valley Pinot Noir. Wine style: Our Roaring 40s wine style is low in residual sugar and is therefore food friendly. It is intended to provide immediate enjoyment on release. This 2015 wine really showcases the fresh, fruit-driven vibrancy of cool climate Pinot Noir we expect from our cool, dry, low vigour site in southern Tasmania.
